What is Bio Technique ?

The “Biotechnique” is the specific term named which refers to the augment technique for parts of the body. The materials use in this technique are reduced their size to small enough to be inject to the area want to enhance without surgical scar. The concept of the Biotechnique has been practiced in all over the world for more than 30 years as known in the names of Microimplant Injection technique or Macroplastic Injection Technique. Generally , the most common used material is the medical-graded silastic sheet (same material as we use for nasal prosthesis) but for Biotechnique , the silastic sheets has to be reduced their size to small enough for injection with the special device called the “Bio gun” then the shape of large silastic sheets become to the particulate silicone.

Besides the particulate silicone, others materials can be applied with the Biotechnique such as autogenous fat, fascia or muscle. Because the Biotechnique can be done without a large surgical wound so we can categorize this technique as a minimal invasive technique. The advantages of the Biotechnique compare to the traditional surgical operation are there is no need for scapel , no surgical scar anymore , short recovery period , safe time and cost in the post-operative period and with the physical properties of the particulate silicone that allow for the small blood vessels to supply the overlied skin-this will prevent for the most common complication of the augmentation operation - there is no report of the perforation of the enhanced area at all , furthermore the Biotechnique makes many impossible or difficult –to-make operation can be done with natural appearance ; nose , forehead , temporal area , malar eminence , cheek , lip and chin for examples.

In Thailand, we have been developed the method of Microimplant injection technique to achieve much better results which create more definite contour. The sequences of the Biotechnique improvements are;

Stage 1 : correct the depress area
Stage 2 : augmentation with satisfied contour
Stage 3 : consistency approach to near natural

We can count the Biotechnique to the technique that less injure to the tissue (Minimal Invasive Surgery), short recovery period especially in the era of the surgery operation that cause the large wound , long recovery period with the complexity of the preoperation that may be follow with the complications will be replace with the minimal invasive surgery. The Biotechnique works well with forehead enhancement, temporal enhancement, rhinoplasty , malar eminence, cheek, lip, chin, some kinds of facial wrinkles and to correct some depress scar.
In summary, the main idea of Biotechnique is to make the large silastic sheet to be numerous tiny pieces of particulate silicone and send to the desired area with the special device “Biogun” which can create the satisfied contour with lifelong result but to achieve that goals – surgeon has to be well-trained and has the sufficient experiences of the Biotechnique besides the response of host tissue and proper post-operative care have to be considered.
